Songs of Cyborgoise

Diplom Praxis
Prof. Alex Oppermann

Art

The practical side to my Diplom consists of a concept and soundtrack for the project Songs of Cyborgoise, which is at once a multimedia performance, game and music album. This project, developed in collaboration with Alla Popp as BBB_, speculates about a queer evolutionary scenario of technologies, humans, flora and fauna on earth. From the standpoint in which artificial intelligence takes up various forms of embodiments, it portrays a world of the near future. We are able to take the perspectives of fictitious, newly born, digital and globally networked entities and can set out on a journey through the feelings, fears and hopes of interconnected beings.

Diplom Theory
Prof. Dr. Marc Ries

Art

My theoretical side to my project concerns the music of posthumanism. I developed the theoretical and practical work in parallel and in close relation to one another. The music of posthumanism—a multifaceted term that seeks to grasp and define the present and future state of humanity—is a form of music that appears to be increasingly dislodging humanity from the core of creative activity. The compositions that stem from computer-based systems can can hardly be distinguished from those by human artists. As a consequence, questions arise of just how the creative process, the sound and the reception of music will develop in the future as well as what roles technologies and people will play in this process.
